Familiar landmark
This chimney on the shore has been a bit of a mystery. Its date and function have been researched over many years. It is now thought most likely that it was part of a late 18th. Century copper smelter.
It is a familiar sight to many walkers as it is right next to the Lancashire Coastal Footpath where it passes Jenny Brown’s Point in Silverdale.
