Death by food

Today we sadly had to leave the company of my new favourite vicar.
Me (to his wife): So was it the hair that attracted you to Tom?
Veronica: It was absolutely everything but the hair.

We got the bus back down to KL (more News Quiz, more tittering uncontrollably) where we were meeting the rest of the team and then catching a flight over to Sabah, which is the part of Malaysia on the Island of Borneo. Another day which seemed to be spent totally in transit but, after a good 10 days of living in various degrees of basic, I think we were all excited about the prospect of a few nights in a hotel before returning home.

It was dark by the time we reached Sabah and we were whisked off from the airport to check in to the hotel and go for yet another meal in a Chinese restaurant. I love food but by this point I'm even reaching my limit. It's clear from the outset that Sabah is different. We were taken to our hotel and (I'm a bit embarrassed to write this) and I had an entire suite with a little lounge and kitchen and a floor to ceiling view out over the city. It was a weird adjustment to make, especially as it was only last night that we were in the home of the asli people. The restaurant was also a little more high end than we are used to and we were all a little bit disappointed because we've begun to love the hustle and bustle of street food.

Excited by the prospect of exploring our last region of the trip, but wondering if we'll all feel a little bit out of our depth.
