The Race Hut

The Race Committee Hut for Emsworth Sailing Club, sitting with its red brick legs in the Mill Pond.  Overlooking the sea, it is here that the commands are made for the count down to the start of the sailing races during the summer months.  Then, boats vie for the prime position at the start line, sometimes there is a shout or two as someone gets cut up.  Then with the final blast of the horn, they are off, out to sea to sail the course around the buoys and try to come back first past the finish line.

Today the hut was closed up and silent.  Many of the sailing boats have been brought out of the water for the winter and their owners, rather than navigating the currents of air and water, were safely tucked up inside the warmth of the sailing club eating their Sunday Lunch.  Those of us outside were blasted by a strong north-westerly wind which blew cold air into our faces as we walked along the quay.  It was good to feel well enough to manage this little walk today.  I hope you have all had a relaxing and peaceful Sunday.
