Yorgos Seferis

Once more hitting the road in Greece and this day is the final day of my travels in Greece for the year. Leaving Arachova in the morning for a return to Athens and Rafina to see friends and relatives for a last time before departing; those meet ups could not last long as time was pressing.
But in the morning I couldn't resist to make a little D-tour and go and see the monastery of Agios Loukas (St. Luke) that's some 12 kms beyond the highway.
And there on the leading village road little outside Distomo I met this sheppard whose name is Yorgos Seferis...
Yorgos Seferis?! Relative of the great Greek poet Yorgos Seferis?... Yes, we share names and probably blood too ~ Greeks are usually named after their grandpapa or grandmama and that from the family line of papa. Another wee chat with another shepard along the road ~ my BIL had a hurd of sheep till some years ago.... so I have a soft spot for shepards and sheepbells :)

I got to that gorgeous monastery of St. Luke and took  there lots of pix from the ancient icons on the walls of St.Barbara church; from that I may enter a capture in coming weeks.

My handy emptied its batteries before my travels ended and the final stretch towards the rental car company I did literally in the dark of the eve with the help of toll workers along the road (driving the high way in Greece is expensive with all the toll ports)... I delivered the car in the nick of time and got my plane alike.
