Grateful...

...for this wood burner today. Arrived home last night and the boiler wasn’t working. The wood burned has made the lounge the only hospitable room in the house today.

No boiler, no hot water and with two showers in the house that work off the mains...no showers:-(. Faffing about with kettles, & basins. Hanging over the bath with a cup and basin to wash hair. Wash down at the sink with a flannel in a freezing cold bathroom.

Probably no worse than when I was growing up in this house when there was only the coal fire and no central heating. The coal fire would have heated the boiler in those days though so there was hot water.

The Gas man arrived in the afternoon and a new boiler is required... :-/

How you miss our modern conveniences when they are not there. Grateful for the reminder of how lucky we are.
