Thanksgiving Week
We usually go to the island this week and some parts of the family come for TG day which is Thursday for us. Last year both families came but the ferry didn’t run because of bad weather so they had to stay on the mainland a night first. This year Fiona’s Mom has to work friday so they are having the rest of us for TG dinner on thursday…an event for sure. :-) Fiona has no school this week so guess what? Here she is on a monday. Mom and Dad have to work. Very happy to come over, today she: finished sewing her Christmas pillow on the machine, brought over 10 playmobile people to represent our family as pilgrims so we spent a lot of time figuring that out, (a later blip?) she worked on her drawing book, then made roll out chocolate cookies with dinosaur and turkey shapes (thank heavens I actually had a turkey cookie cutter) which she can do with no help, with her blue fingernails and the sleep mask she’s been wearing as a headband and the shirt she said she’d wear all week. After all that I had to relax on the couch so we read a book (Roald Dahl’s “Danny, Champion of the world”) which had an inscription inside the cover to her Dad on his 9th birthday in 1975. (He remembered he liked that story after she told him). all the while she is finger knitting a “scarf” for me after giving up once again the real needle knitting.
Had a walk in a rain break this morning with some decent city pictures but how can I not post this in my journal….she is the last grandchild and I wouldn’t do anything differently. We’ll see how it goes the rest of the week… :-) .tomorrow we’re having a”field trip” to an art museum. she says she’ll have her sketch pad with her but put one in my purse in case she forgets it.
