Carpet of golden leaves
Although it was dull today, deteriorating to a drizzly misty rain later the beeches in Mote Park were resplendent in their cloak of rich golds standing above a carpet of golden leaves.
A brisk walk around Mote Park was followed by a visit to the chemist, the doctors and the allotment before we went our separate ways. Susan on another appointment at the hospital with her mother and me, rather more enjoyably, out to lunch with John a friend for over 50 years.
We had a good time, chewing the cud, the epitome an older generation setting the world to rights that were in the pubs and bars when we were youngsters! We share so much in common, not least caring for elderly parents and all that entails.
Not much rest when I came home as there was a row to be had with my bank over a letter, tea to cook (using vegetables from the allotment), bills to pay, calls to make. Then it was out to a Referees' Society Committee meeting in the evening - where some people would just not shut up!
