The Parker's Arms - REDUX!

So, The Parker's arms. Much reviled locally and scene of a comedy afternoon pint with Simon and the Minx a while back, when Simon's 'up for it' agreement to join me in exploring the pub for a drink finally tipped the Minx into agreeing to come along. Guys, it was a bad as everyone said.

But now, demonstrating plucky, entrepreneurial spirit, the Parker's has incorporated a curry house. It has to be said that opinion was largely undivided as to how poor this would be but last night we bumped into Mike, who surprised me by saying he'd been to try it (he is not a Parker's supporter). Now, if anyone was going to tell it how it is, it's Mike, and he said that, actually, it wasn't bad.

So, it seemed appropriate, this morning, to see the sun shining on this much maligned public house. I wasn't going for a curry, though; I'd dropped the Minx at hospital, taken the car home, and was, at this point, walking back to the hospital,

Some insider knowledge had told us that this (hopefully) final operation on her foot would take place at midday, so we were pleasantly surprised when they came for her just after nine o'clock. It can't be any coincidence that, on occasions such as this, no one seems to have a bad word to say about the NHS and, indeed, everyone was wonderful to us, returning a post-operative Minx at about ten-thirty.

We were back home in the early afternoon. Everything had gone very smoothly and the anaesthetic block meant that she was pretty much pain free. Which was, of course, the point at which I realised how much worry I'd been suppressing.
