The true meaning of Christmas
A nice day exploring Luxembourg. Not the best day weather wise and we had to seek cover a few times.
We caught the train to Central station and hopped on a bus which dropped us near our next hotel. Feels sooo posh compared to the Ibis and Holiday Inns we’ve been staying in. Very clean with attentive staff , including a Bell boy. We have a heated Loo too, not sat on one of those before !
This Nativity scene was in one of the markets surrounded by decorated trees by different groups. Pretty lights everywhere and lots of food and drink.
We had walked through the park, in the dry, and found a cafe for lunch. The food and drink is much more expensive than at home but we enjoyed a mushroom omelette with chips and salad.
We drank a glass of hot apple near an open fire and ate some Kurtosh which is a split cake a bit like a long doughnut covered in chocolate, sooo good !
We took cover in the Notre Dame Cathedral. Beautiful stained glass windows.I lit a candle and we sat in the peace and quiet. Another lovely nativity with The baby Jesus missing this time until he appears on Christmas morning.
We had a cup of tea to warm ourselves up in a patisserie and had a Sapino, a Christmas tree Pastry with custard.
The door handle , a brass angel, was shiny from so many people using it.
Back to the hotel and a very nice tea and milk in the Piano Bar listening to a man playing the piano next to an open fire.
Too wet and cold to head out to see the lights in the dark but cosy in the large hotel room :)
