The last day of the year
Today is my 1825th blip, a whole 5 years since I started blipping and I have never missed a day since I started. Many people have anniversaries at this time of year, it seems we all had the same idea to start a photographic journal at the beginning of the calendar year. My intention was to only do it for a year but somehow one gets hooked and here I am 5 years later! I am very grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from my fellow blippers over the years, thank you for that.
The last day of the year dawned bright and sunny. Unfortunately it rained over night so the snow was not as fresh and powdery as the boys were hoping for on their day of off-piste skiing with their guide, but nevertheless they had a great time today skiing off the back of the mountains and came home accident free despite the avalanche risk being very high today. This area is known for having some of the best off piste skiing in Europe.
Bianca and Kevin had their last lesson on another mountain and I went up with them, and spent the morning skiing by myself. It was sunny and quite warm at 8C, an unbelievable 24C degree difference from a few days ago.
Tonight we are going to the same restaurant that we have been going to for the past 13 years to celebrate New Year. In fact it was at this restaurant five years ago that Kevin and Bianca got engaged! We always have a lovely dinner and then walk home afterwards, enjoying the fireworks in the village that start at midnight. They always do an excellent fireworks display so we are looking forward to seeing that.
Some extra photos taken while skiing today.
