National Railway Museum

We were up and out super early this morning to make our way to the National Railway Museum in York for Alexander’s birthday weekend.

He didn’t know what too look at first when we got inside, there were so many trains! We saw Stephenson’s Rocket, humongous locomotives, diesel engines, ambulance trains used in the war, the Mallard, and the royal carriages of Queen Victoria, King Edward and Queen Elizabeth. Alexander’s highlight however was the Japanese Bullet train. We even got to go inside it and he was so excited! There was a miniature railway and play area outside and we had a go on the simulator.

We left the museum around 4 o’clock after a truly amazing educational and fun day and made our way to the hotel. We had tea at a lovely pub and then all collapsed into bed at 8:30.
