Back to Carskey Bay
7.3C bright start then clouding over. Rain due in the afternoon. Wind SE/S to 24 mph with gusts to 47 mph.
This morning, when Fergus and I were out at 7.30am, I watched Rotra Vente leaving. There was a tug in attendance with the pilot boat. The ship was so long that it couldn't back out and turn to sail off across the loch but had to be towed out backwards and turned sternward round the new quay head and out into the middle of the loch and deeper water before a turn could be made to face across the loch and into the channel out past Davaar island. It was a bit odd to see such a huge ship being towed backwards and rather surreal to see it turn with bow facing the head of the loch until it dawned on me what was happening. The harbour looked rather empty once she was out in the loch. The huge mobile cranes were being folded down to their compact travel configurations before leaving for their next port.
Grocery shopping.
Went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach and Kiel to Carskey Bay. There quite no seals on the rocks at Kiel, the tide was in and the waves crashing in over the rocks.
At Carskey we walked along to the far end and came back again along the path at the back of the beach with the last little bit back on the beach itself. The waves were excellent. Crashing into a big trough they had formed along the beach and then running up the sand with much foaming. Fergus was off his lead, running about like a barrel shot out of a canon. He went back on his lead for a while then coming back towards the car park I let him off again. This time he really ran away, going far to far ahead and disappearing over the top of the dunes only to reappear right at the top of the ramp to the road. Rascal !
Oh, and we saw two Deer running along the other side of the river at the back of the beach.
Later Apothecary7 was painting. Radio 2 was on in the background.
