Cardinal Wolsey and his angels

Carol and I went to Christchurch Mansion - a beautiful Elizabethan Manor House set in a park in the middle of Ipswich. One of her jobs on the council is looking after museums so she opened this exhibition.

Wolsey commissioned four bronze angels for his tomb in 1524 but after his fall from grace they were lost. 2 were found in the 1990s and the other 2 were recovered from above the gates of a golf club in Northamptonshire. Normally they are stashed away in the British Museum in London but are here as part of an exhibition on Wolsey who was born in Ipswich.

It was a lovely day for a stroll in the park before Jennie my Dutch friend picked me up to take me to see her new house, a beautiful converted barn on a big plot next to her son and family. Her son helped build the house which streams with light from all directions. The beams and doors etc are all oak. It is beautiful.

At night Gill another old friend, came to eat with us.
