Jarl Squad at da Museum

It was pouring down for most of the morning, but it cleared up for a few hours.  Rain and wind tonight.

On my way to work, I met the Jarl Squad heading through town.  I've been on the museum desk all day, and we've had over 1,300 visitors in, 110 were school children.  There was a quote about the Amenity Trust and museum on the bill, it reads "Up the Swanee?  Weighed down, Amen'ty trustees shiver; by Shear's Quay.  That's where the staff all sadly quiver - who's gonna go?  Who stays?  Peerie worlds are sad and dreary, on the dole they'll roam.  Oh harken now with hearts grown weary, chickens are coming home".  A sad reference to our job losses.  With the poor night, I'm passing on the UHA procession.  Mam and Elise popped by tonight, and then off to work in the pub later.  No partying for me.

Visitors and locals waited paitently for the arrival of the Jarl Squad, and a great turn was had.  They finally arrived at 4.15pm, sang the Up Helly Aa songs, and met and mingled with the crowd.  Here's Jarl Stewart Jamieson coming in, with his squad cheering him on.  Hope everyone has a grand night.  Taken in the Shetland Museum and Archives, Lerwick.
