Morecambe

Today's the day .............................. to recover

The seaside town of Morecambe has not had a very good reputation in past years.

The once popular place where many people, particularly from Yorkshire (because of its railway connection) and Scotland, would go on their annual summer holiday - went into a period of decline and decay in the late 70s and 80s.  When we moved to Kendal in the early 90s, it definitely was a shadow of its former self and not really a place you would want to spend time in with a family.

For the last ten years or so, however, there has been much work going on to upgrade buildings and to return the town to something of its former glory.  This afternoon, it was glorious to walk along the newly restored promenade - the views across the Bay were stunning.

The extra is Morecambe Sailing Clubhouse keeping watch over anything afloat in the bay ..........................
