Winkles Galore

Back to the Farmers’ Market today . . . And yippee, the fish market stall from Portsmouth had loads of winkles in their basket.
These tiny sea snails are understandably not everyone’s choice for a snack but I have loved them ever since those days of being a mere kid.
But with the disappearance of many a regular fishmonger from local shopping streets, so too has disappeared the regular availability of winkles.
So I look out every month for the appropriate basket at the monthly Farmers’ Market and today I was in luck.
So now for the next couple of days please excuse me if I seem a little tardy answering emails. I’ll be busy with a pin extracting these little delicacies from their shells.
