An ordinary life....

Lola & Harlow up a tree...

Lola has a new friend.  A ten month old Great Dane called Harlow :-)

As you probably know, Lola is one of the world's friendliest dogs.  She loves everyone and everything...a little too much!  Whenever anyone visits be it family, friends or the Tesco delivery guy, she wants to play, play, play and gets so excited running about and jumping and generally just going nuts.

We have worked very hard on training her to calm down and be a little more restrained, and it's working but it's a real struggle for her to rein herself in and the self control required is enormous.

She's also very enthusiastic when meeting other dogs when out on her walks and again David has worked really hard training her to sit and wait and not just assume that every dog is as friendly as her and wants to play.  He's had some help with this from a wonderful trainer called Agata and today they were back up in Perth (more dogs for Lola to meet and practice her skills with there) to practice loose lead walking and meeting and greeting other dogs.  Lola was apparently excellent and not only walking perfectly with a loose lead, but was also great with the dogs she met.

One dog they saw approaching was a massive Great Dane.  A real test for Lola as she finds the prospect of a big, energetic friend very exciting.  Apparently the Great Dane's owners had spotted Lola, realised she was in training and were doing their best to stop their boy from interrupting her, not realising that's exactly what David and Agata wanted them to do.

Anyway, long story short, Lola and the Great Dane (Harlow) met and Lola behaved brilliantly!  They played happily together for at least 15 minutes and Harlow's owner was so happy as apparently most people and their dogs avoid them due to Harlow's size.  In fact they have advertised on a local dog FB page asking for playmates for him.

Harlow, at ten months old and still a bouncy pup himself, despite looking like a small pony and David, Agata and Harlow's owners were laughing as despite his size, Lola was very definitely in charge!

When he got home, David looked up the FB page Harlow's owner had mentioned and left a message on the post they had created saying Lola had had a great time with Harlow and would definitely be up for getting together with him again.  Harlow's mum replied saying, "I've done nothing but sing Lola's praises all day! She was just perfect!"

Look our for Lola and Harlow blips soon! :-)

Meanwhile I stayed at home and tried to catch up with my photography course (back to basics).  Can you guess from blip which aspect of photography I was focussing (pun not intended) on today?

No prizes, it's just for fun ;-))
