Survivor

I am the last of my kind.
Sheltering, ignored by wind and rain,
defiant, my search for sun now fruitless -
and yet -
I am still here.
A survivor from this summer's bounty,
a promise for the next.

Today was truly autumnal - no sun and a thin grey mist muffling the senses. I took a walk at lunchtime and blipped some autumnal scenes - then came home to spot this late, last honeysuckle flowering under the shelter of a holly bush. There'll be a few more days for autumn shots - this little bloom will not be around for long - I thought it deserved its moment of fame.
