At Chartwell

A dreary, wet and cold day that started off wet, stayed wet and turned colder. We met friends Liz and Al at Chartwell, home of Sir Winston Churchill to see an exhibition on his wife, Clementine Churchill and to visit his studio.

First on the agenda was lunch in the National Trust cafe which proved to be very good. The exhibition was interesting but very short, I think we went the wrong way around as we ended up at the family tree which put all the names into perspective. What was billed as a "studio talk" turned out to be a guide turning up at 2.00pm to open the studio and pass around laminated sheets describing what to see. None of us was keen to ask about the "talk"

The weather was not conducive to taking photos outside, except for a couple of "artificial" flowers on display, one of alliums made from metal and these poppies which brought a splash of colour to the day and formed my entry, correctly, for Flower Friday. Thank you BikerBear

We exhausted the shop and repaired home to Christmas Cake and later, Cottage Pie followed by either steamed chocolate pudding or cheese and biscuits (or both)
