Swan River Pea
It's the Rower's sister's Birthday today, so we all went out for lunch at a small country town called Strathalbyn, on the other side of the Adelaide Hills - about an hour's drive.
There was also an Open Garden in the area which we visited last year, so we took the opportunity to go again this afternoon. It really is a lovely place, aptly named "Serenity" - about 4 km out of the town high on the hills, where on a clear day you can see right down to the sea.
Heaps of blipping ops as you can imagine, and as it's basically a bush garden, my choices were narrowed down to a Kangaroo Paw, and this one - a Swan River Pea. The clarity on this is so high, and the colours so intense, it won out against the Kangaroo Paw, which I will put in the Blip Folio shortly.
MUCH MUCH REDDER IN LARGE
Swan River Peas are called a couple of different Latin names, and I don't know which one is right - it's either Gastrolobium celsianum, or Brachysema celsianum - whichever, it's a real eye-catcher.
To see the alternative blip i.e. the Kangaroo Paw, it's in my Blipfolio. Click to the left unless you want to scroll through the lot. The Kangaroo Paw is another native from Western Australia and this is the dwarf variety, Anigozanthos gabrielae
