On Opposite Banks, Aylesford

The River Medway runs through my village and underneath the two bridges in the centre. One of them is a fine example of a Norman bridge while the other is a much newer construction and the one over which all traffic now flows. The river is very tidal at this point and can rise and fall quite dramatically during the span of a day. As I was walking along one of the banks the river was almost in full spate due to all the rain we've had over the past few days. The sunshine and the blue sky reflecting on to the water  made the river look beautiful but on overcast or inclement days it is often the colour of a greyish brown, swirling mud.
I've walked along the riverbank on both sides many, many times but I always seem to forget how much the river twists and turns - in my imagination and dreams, for some reason, it is alway straight and  purposeful not meandering and wilful.
Today's extra shot is another from my series of items of detritus that I often see while out on my walks.
