A grave situation!!

On the edge of Sousson is the remains of this 4000 year old Bronze Age burial mound.
In the center you can see the cist ( a stone lined pit) in which the body would have been placed, often in the fetus position. On top there would have been a cap stone and it would all be covered with a mound of stones and earth.

Dartmoor is covered with Bronze Age remains. There has been no finds of human remains in any of the the pits because the acidic water and earth would have dissolved them. In some there have been found remains of pottery.

Sadly this example is close to a road and people have used it as a B-B-Q pit!
