Reflections on reality
Tonight was my Peer Review Group meeting. One member is spending more time in Australia than in Auckland, and was unable to join us tonight. Another decided that the effects of a sudden onset viral illness were best managed by an early night. Leaving three of us to have our first meeting of the year.
We planned our year (sort of) and talked of things like being solo practitioners in the setting of a group. Many of us do not interact on a daily or even weekly basis with our colleagues. Even when we share the same work site. Changing that is one of my challenges in my current position.
Difficult clinical issues were also raised, mostly involving some degree of loss of reality testing. Our task in such a situation is to help the person re-establish their connection with reality. Which leads naturally to reflections on reality. are the reflections the (or a) reality? Or are the reflections another form of disturbed reality? Perhaps, even, non-reality.
Looking out from the courtyard at Malt into the early evening darkness (and light), I found my blip.
