Cold snap
Office reopened today but too late in the morning to make journey in meaningful. Most staff working from home and keeping safe.
Aware that some of our volunteers have made themselves available in case of the need for emergency hearings to tackle child safeguarding issues and our thanks go out to them.
I am not at home as our house is undergoing some significant work. And access to WiFi (and phone signal) is limited where we are staying.
So I walked through the snow ( some 6 to 8 inches) to our house to access the WiFi and log on. Despite a convector heater ( the main heating is off) I managed several hours there before my feet turned to blocks of ice: almost like being back in the Ice Domes of Tromso but without the graceful ice carvings and lovely fish soup.
I cleared the path and tackled the pavement to warm up. And checked the greenhouse which hovers around 2 oC at its coldest point. So far the plants are surviving. The warmth and melt - and refresh - has created some great icicles.
Lovely to see neighbours’ children sledging down the road, devoid of traffic. Our street is about the last to thaw! And that will be some time away still.
