Noble's Rest

Today's the day .............................. to fell

There has been a lot of work going on recently in a near-by park - all part of the Maude's Meadow Enhancement Plan - by the local Council.

The work includes drainage, path improvements and moving benches in the Nobles Rest Public Park.  The park was donated by Mary Ellen Noble in 1929, as a place for the aged and the young to enjoy. It was created to commemorate her husband, local surgeon Samuel Clarke Noble.

They've begun to carry out selective tree pruning and removals on the banked land to the west of the park.  I was looking down on them today from above as they chopped and sawed - and disposed of the trunks and branches.  I'm sure it's all going to look good when they've finished - but, somehow, there's always something a bit sad about seeing a mighty tree reduced to a pile of sawdust ......................
