Last Wednesday our church Men's Group had a guided tour of the Smith Art Gallery and Museum in Stirling. One of the galleries featured artifacts connected with the City of Stirling and the surrounding area and one section of that had items associated with William Wallace, whose main victory as a leader came at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297.

While there is next to no contemporary material relating to Wallace or the Battle of Stirling Bridge, one of the items on display in the Smith Museum is this Staffordshire pottery figurine, dating from 1870. It does depict a somewhat different image of Wallace from the traditional ones!
