Pointless Jointful
Fixing a hole where the rain came in
And stops my mind from wondering
Where it will go
OK, so we fixed the rain problem a year ago with a new downpipe. The older downpipe had been inadequate for about 200 years (literally) so when it rained heavily the 'overflow' route was down through the rooms. Some bright spark concluded that the solution was hide that part of the room behind plasterboard.
The job of fixing the hole hacked into the plasterboard to implement the downpipe has only just reached the surface (albeit recently accelerated by another room's ceiling looking a tad ominous; so we needed this room back).
Now, there really wasn't a need for proper joints at the corners of the framing. It's all about to be painted over and there will be a panel in front of the mitre, but, hey, one of the benefits of being an amatuer is the freedom to do it how you like it.
