Jarlic!

I've been hankering after a fast 50mm lens for a while now and I finally buckled today and bought the Canon f1.8 one. It really doesn't help that I walk past two Jessops on the way to work either!

I must say that I'm really pleased with it so far. Being a complete newbie to photography and having only used f3.5 lenses to date, the difference in speed is quite striking when using the lens 'wide open' (as per today's blip).

Part of my 'internal' justification for the purchase is our impending holiday to the rock climbing paradise of Fontainebleau on Saturday. Naturally having a more comprehensive selection of lenses will result in a more interesting photographic output from the trip...
