Carreg Cennen

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . to go round the back

We're in the part of Wales where Will spent his childhood days.  His parents had a hill farm and the local rural community was a tight-knit and supportive one as he grew up.  Their nearest neighbours were a mile or so away - but they knew each other as well as if they had been next door.

Today we walked over to call on a couple of them whose farms were near Carreg Cennen Castle.  It was the first time I had been to one of them - Yr Hengrofft - round the back of the castle.  This is their view of the sheer cliffs and the castle perched on the top.

We had a great welcome as always but we didn't want to disturb them for too long because they are right in the middle of lambing just now.  Apparently it has been a bumper year for triplets so far.  When this happens, one of the lambs is removed from the ewe to make it easier for her to look after the other two.  The extra is some of triplet lambs being looked after in the barn - and showing that they quickly get used to feeding themselves from the automatic milk dispenser . . . . . . . . . . . .
