Crypts, catacombs and pot-holes!

As we were only going to be in Rome for a few days we tried to pack in as much as possible. This morning we walked through the Villa Borghese , to the Borghese Gallery, to start the trip with some culture. The gardens were amazing and, like all of Rome, full of fountains and enormous statues. The gallery was pretty good too but I wish we had got an audio tour as we didn't know what we were looking at a lot of the time.

In the afternoon we had a tour of the cryps and catacombs under Rome, starting with the Capuchini bone chapel which was very impressive and a little creepy but very small and crowded. Also, like most of the place we visited, photos weren't allowed.

On the way out of the chapel, I tripped in a pot-hole in the road and turned my ankle, with a nasty crunchy noise. During the 90 seconds it took to get on the coach to take us the the next stop, my ankle had swelled to the size of a tennis ball but I'm a brave little soldier and carried on with the tour around the catacombs of Domitilla and the Church and catacombs of San Clemente, where this picture was taken.
