Lion
Not the best nights sleep and my stomach was playing up so the big question at the start of the day was Imodium or no Imodium.
Left the camp at around 6.45 with a spare change of pants in the bag and went back to the Mara River. There was another crossing happening when we got there, with even more wilder beasts than yesterday. Had to get back into the car a bit quick at one point we were that close. There was one Zebra also crossed, looked behind and saw that his mates hadn't gone with him and then had to cross back again. At least this time all the wilder beasts seem to make it across with no casualties.
From there we went looking of lions, cheetah and leopards. One the way we saw more zebra, giraffe, all sorts of deer. We had breakfast looking over the plains towards the river.
Going into some rock we found a male lion that was sleeping on top of a large rock and didn't want to have his photo taken. A bit further up were the lionesses with the cubs in the shade sleeping off a large breakfast if their stomachs were anything to go by.
We then went back to the lion to see if we could get a better picture. J and Alison started to clap which after a short while annoyed the lion enough to wake up and look at us. We then decided it was time to leave the lion only to find the back wheel had gone into an ant eater hole and we were stuck 100 yards away. The revving of the Jeep got the lions attention even more especially when Mdebie opened the car door. This got a bark from the lion as he obviously couldn't believe his luck that lunch had not only arrived on his door step but the tin was also opening itself this time. Fortunately a couple of other vehicles had arrived by then and we got a push out from one of them.
We then started to make out way back to camp passing more wilder beast and buffalo.
Once we arrived back I went straight to bed for 5 hours to try and get over the stomach bug while the others went out for the afternoon drive. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Turned out that the afternoon drive was OK but they did manage to see 3 black Rhino in the bush once they had driven into it to find them.
See today
Wilder beast, Impala, Elan, Marabou stalk, Baboons, Giraffe, Hippos and some grouse
