Ray of Sunshine

Despite little improvement in our weather so far this year, the vivid colour of this forsythia bush is like a ray of sunshine in our garden.
It is one of the more popular shrubs because of its early splash of colour in early Spring. The shrub originates in the Far East but has found ready acceptance here and which makes the most of its splash of yellow through the blooms appearing before the leaves.
We give it little attention apart from yearly pruning to prevent it becoming too straggly, yet it appears to thrive, and provides satisfying welcome brightness for early Spring while skies lack the blue skies and sunshine which we love and expect
