Castle Pond
Had a petrol voucher to use in Keighley this morning and something to return to M&S that was too big! (Only one week left before it closes - eek)
So we decided to revisit Cliffe Castle for a coffee. We were there a couple of months ago and it wasn't yet open and promised ourselves a revisit. It was very busy, not surprising as it is Saturday and a much warmer and drier day than of late, but we managed to park and get a table.
It's called the Cliffe Castle Pavillion and has been built to recreate a Victorian Vinery that was here in the 1830's. Think we will be back mid week next time.
We took a walk around the grounds. Can't remember whether this pond was there before or not but it looks to have been spruced up - made a great circuit for mini cyclists!
The 'castle' is at the top of the picture with banks of daffodils in front of it. I liked the reflections in the pond.
(The castle was bought by Sir Bracwell Smith in the '50s and made into a museum for the town of Keighley. He was an ex Lord Mayor of London and a distant relation of my mother!)
This afternoon Spring really did arrive as the sun came out.
I cleaned my Muck Boots, dubbed my walking boots and spent an hour weeding the front garden.
The sun makes all the difference. The Pasqueflowers whose heads were hung with droplets on Wednesday are now opening to the sun.
Quiz tonight in support of airedaleknitter's trek in the Grand Canyon next month.
