In canal boating terms Bingley Five Rise Locks are one of the seven wonders of the world.

Here is our boat just entering the top lock.

This flight of locks is what is known as a staircase and this is where one lock leads directly in to the next.  We were assisted by members of the Canal and River Trust who operate the gates.  They were exceptionally helpful and they also asked my crew to assist them thereby giving valuable experience to the new hands.
