On the Lines

I was inspired to submit this photograph by a Blipfoto entry of yesterday by Old Biscuit Tin Photos of some new track near Leeds (Hellifield).

I like the sweep of the merging tracks and the curve. And I'm happy to see the old-fashioned signal box still in place.

The appearance of the lines in the other direction, just beyond the station, is also rather satisfying. There's another little signal box there, together with some semaphore signals apparently remaining in use. (The signals shown on the web page I have just linked to and the associated ones are animated: have a look, and keep watching for a few seconds!)
