Diary of an Edinburgher

Good news

I spent the morning carrying my phone, listening to raucous muzak, trying to contact Scottish Power. A letter had arrived this morning from them with our address, but the wrong name. It was the name of the person who bought our previous flat. Very puzzling. And with Scottish Power - worrying. At one point I hung on for about 20 minutes but had to hang up because Craig, the path man arrived. But I did eventually get through and sort it out (I think).

Craig examined the scratches (caused by me using a metal shovel to clear the snow) and declared that he could fix them. Phew! For a reasonable price too. With lunch thrown in. (Though not exactly thrown).

For the first time since I fell off the ladder a couple of weeks ago, I can walk unaided. I've been using my walking stick since then. I might attempt the gym tomorrow.

JR and Archie went off for a big walk through the Hermitage, (photo by JR) where they met two schnauzers that they haven’t met before - Sam, who was 13 and wore little socks, and Rudi. Archie had a long shower when he came back. Though he looks clean enough, after a week he gets a bit whiffy.

Tonight, though he doesn’t know it yet, there will be a new regime - he will be sleeping in his own bed.

We'll see how well that goes down...
