Pileated woodpecker

It was loudly pounding on the tree which was mostly dead .Itnow has a large hole I was hoping this guy would come back and nest in , but think it is unlikely as he took off and did not come back to pound more out. I guess he was just digging for bugs in the tree.Hopefully someone else will come along and use the cavity . Well , I can dream , can't I?
