Gold!
I've been out for a walk with Louis this morning and came across a gold post box just round the corner from mum's house. As the British Blippers will know, the normal red post boxes were painted gold in the towns where an Olympic gold medal winner lived.
I asked mum about it, and it had been painted gold to honour Paralympic cycling superstar Sarah Storey who won Team GB's first gold of the games. She won the C5 3,000 metres individual pursuit, and another in the C4/5 500 metres time-trial. Sarah's husband Barney Storey won his third gold medal riding tandem pilot with Neil Fachie in the 1k time trial - quite a talented couple!
Sarah & Barney live in Disley not too far from here, where each of them had a post box painted. However, as Sarah won two gold medals, she had two painted (one for each medal) and chose to have her second in Poynton as she went to my old school here in the village.
So in honour of Sarah, I thought this should be my blip today - of course Louis had to pose for the camera too!
Anyway, the car's packed and we're about to start our journey back home to Belgium. Mum's coming with us for 10 days to give her a little holiday so the car's full to the brim - nothing to do with my clothes shopping while I've been here!
