First day of the trip with my sister, we went for a short hike at Joe Watts Canyon which is on the east side of the Cascades near Thorpe, WA. The temperature was really nice, wonderful blue sky, super green gras and lots of wildflowers like Lupines and Indian Paintbrush (extra).  The blue butterflies were flying in big flocks here - there must have been a very recent hatch.

Then we decided we'd get a camp spot at Wanapun state park which is right on the Columbia River/Wanapum Lake. We later figured out why the woman who checked us in was trying hard not to laugh.... They don't have tent sites at this park - only full hook-ups for RVs and it's $40/night to stay there. We realized that only someone not in their right mind would camp in a tent there because of the ferocious winds. It was probably blowing at least 30mp all night, with more ferocious gusts.

Even though the moon was bright enough to light up the whole campground, we got enough sleep.
