There I was, using a heart-shaped cookie cutter to trace out a heart on a large piece of long-neglected and forgotten piece of black velvet when a suggestion from a good coworker of mine popped into my head: draw a white outline in found-dead-body style. Since I was already using a white fabric marker on a black surface, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to run with the awesome idea.

Black velvet is a heavy material that can cloak anything in dense darkness, so can layers upon layers of objects in InDesign to obscure what may be underneath it all.
