Nóinin agus sionnach beag
The last day of my own challenge to post a wildflower a day. As you see I had assistance today.
Apart from a small fox, sionnach beag, there are also:
daisies nóinin
herb robert ruithéal rí
germander speedwell anuallach
and creeping buttercup, fearbán reatha
Another lovely day: a bit of cloudage and a few fat spots of rain followed by a warm and sunny afternoon. Some virtuous hoovering meant I could then lounge about on the strand and enjoy two swims. The first swim wasn't entirely satisfactory as there was a lot of floating stuff which I wasn't sure whether was animal vegetable or mineral. There were some very interesting things to be spotted namely teeny by the wind sailors ( mairnealach gaoithe) and very odd teeny transparent tubular things with red centres , possibly comb jellies - though they seem to be totally transparent. (Apologies for comb jelly pic but the tide was coming in and out and they are tiny and I couldn't focus! ) Has anyone any ideas what it might be?
After all that investigating and dithering as to whether things were stingy or not, I moved up the strand to a clearer spot and had a long float. Bliss.
Right, we're off for a wild weekend in Ballymurphy, County Carlow! Catch up soon.
