This highly figured wood comes from Sri Lanka - also from Brazil apparently.

It's lovely to work & to look at. Here, this guitar body has just had an initial coat of shellac to seal the pores prior to spraying with clear nitro-cellulose...

Thereby hangs a tale - big drama today - Cécile said, "Something's burning!" And we all agreed & peered around looking for the culprit... Then I saw smoke drifting out of the extractor fan of the spray cabin in the courtyard outside & pointed.

 CC cut the power to the cabin just in time - the 15 year old motor had short-circuited & a 15 year old build up of varnish had begun to smoulder - a few more minutes & we would have been calling the fire brigade!
