The Cocktail Hour
Well, it’s been a very wet day today! We managed an hour on the beach after breakfast, but we could see the rain clouds rolling in (see my extras). When the first bit of rain hit us, we just sat on the sun loungers, under the straw parasol, but when the next lot hit us, it was time to retreat to the hotel.
No sooner had we got back, it brightened up again, so we went for a walk to the ‘Island Beach Bar’ we’ve come to love. We both had a shandy which was very refreshing, and then we walked back to the hotel narrowly missing the next heavy rainfall.
It continued like this all afternoon, and we had thunder again, until about 5pm when it finally cleared. I went in the pool for a swim and then managed to sunbathe for a bit before dinner.
The food is exceptional here, although we’ve stopped having wine with dinner after seeing the same €22 bottle of ‘average’ wine on sale in the supermarket down the road for €3.80! So we just have a bottle of still water with dinner and then go out for a drink at the beach bar. It’s such a lovely setting as you can see, and they have a restaurant next door that gets very good reviews. Tonight we’ve had Strawberry Daiquiri cocktails which were very good!
I’m suffering with mozzy bites at the moment though, they’ve taken a liking to my feet!!
Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s our there, as I raise a glass and remember my lovely dad who’s no longer with us.
