Luing
Today we set off from home and drove west. Stopped in Oban for some lunch and a bit of shopping. Then headed south to Seil Island, crossing the famous Bridge over the Atlantic. We drove across Seil to the ferry at Cuan and the three minute crossing to Luing. In fact we arrived at the ferry just as the 15:00 crossing was leaving Cuan but the skipper kindly reversed back to the slip, tied up, lowered the ramp and let us on. That’s service! The extra shows the size of the ferry – space for 4 cars I think.
About four years ago we were lucky enough to spend a few days on nearby Easdale Island. We enjoyed that very much and made a trip to Luing then. We really wanted to return and here we are. But get this - we're staying in a caravan. There is some self catering accommodation on Luing and one B&B but only the caravans are dog friendly. I’ve not stayed in a caravan since 1994 and that was in the Dordogne, in a heatwave. As you can see from the main blip there isn’t a heatwave today but actually this weather suits me better. The blip was taken at Cullipool on Luing looking over to Ellenabeich and Easdale.
Luing is one of the Slate Islands. The beaches are black (we could be in the Canaries) and there are lots of old slate quarries. Really looking forward to our few days here.
There is next to no wifi. I won't be commenting or responding for a few days
