London

We got the early train to London, and after checking in at our budget Ibis on Whitechapel road, the brown one on Monopoly, we set off to explore the area. We walked a lot all day, firstly to see the mural of the Battle of Cable Street. 250,000 people including East Enders, Socialists, Jews, Irish and Communists took to the Street to prevent Mosley’s Blackshirt Fascist marching into the area in 1936.

Then we visited Petticoat Lane and the Whitechapel Gallery, where David Bomberg one of my favourite artists first showed his work, then we met Chloe and her partner for a curry and a drink. It was great to meet up again.

We got the bus over Tower Bridge and had a wander along the river where there were lots of swanky bars and restaurants and a view of the 1000 year old Tower of London looking very insignificant among all the higher modern buildings. We missed our bus stop (it gets dark so early in the south) and ended up at Liverpool St so we got the tube back,
