Waterside

I was vegetarian for about eighteen and a half years before I finally lapsed, my Waterloo being (ironically) a cold turkey, which I picked at during a game of Monopoly one Boxing Day.

Despite my own fall from grace, four of my kids are vegetarian; Charlie, Hannah, Milly, and Abi. I took the last two of these out for lunch in Kendal, today, visiting the appropriately named Waterside, which is right next to the Kent. It was started about 20 years or so ago by a friend of my first wife's called Kay Dean.

She's long since moved from the area but the restaurant maintains her ethic admirably. The vegetarian and vegan food today was excellent. I no longer have a personal moral issue with eating meat but I do think it would be better if, as a planet, we didn't do it. If everyone else was up for it, I'd sign on the dotted line tomorrow.
