Sun Shards
Pieces of the sun
Down from heaven did fall
And turned into to flowers
Oh stems so slim and tall
Each tiny yellow shard
Gave out a beam so bright
That they were surrounded
By perpetual, warm sunlight
Insects around did gather
Fearful of that beam
Thinking they would get burnt
So warm it all did seem
They grew within the meadows
So tall upon their stem
And greatly were they admired
By those who discovered them
They collected the ripened seed
And carried it around the world
To be grown in the gardens
So borders could be sun-filled
And gardeners all did praise
This plant with great aplomb
And in praise of its roots
They named it Helianthamum
