My Lone Poppy

This pretty poppy appears every year without fail..........but always in the crack between the slabs on the patio. It self seeded many years ago and I really like it ........I just wish it wasn't in such an awkward place. For the last three years I've collected it's seeds and sprinkled them in different parts of the garden, sadly none have ever grown ...........but I'll do it again this year .......I have to get lucky sometime, don't I? ;-)))

I'm glad I took this photo early on because with the searing heat and gusty wind all the petals have now completely fallen off.........you have to get in quick with the flowers at the moment.......this poppy is not the only plant looking sorry for itself despite having adequate water.......I think they're just being baked in the sun :-/
