Day 3 Oberland Alpine Trek

The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Wonderful light as we left the Gspaltenhornhutte this morning at 6:30am, for our long traverse over the Sefinenfurgge Col, 2612m, dropping into the valley via Rotstockhutte right down to Sefinental at 1259m, what stunning scenery! The Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau were the backdrop for beautiful meadows of Alpine flowers and cows (see extra). It doesn’t get more Swiss than this! Feet in the river with a dramatic view up the valley to the North face of the Gspaltenhorn (see extra) before the walk up to another high point at 1978m. The final downhill to the Obersteinberg hotel which has no electricity and very scratchy woollen blankets in the dortoir, finished off our knees! Now we are drinking copious cups of tea looking at the the huge mountain cirque and waterfalls thundering down!
