Pressed For Space

We live in a decent sized five bedroom house, home to four adults, one dog and five tropical fish.
Now the children are off doing their own thing we are normally at two adults, dog and fish but with Clare’s shifts it’s occasionally just me, dog and fish.
But no matter how full or empty the house, Gussie, our ageing Jack Russell feels the need to get as close to either Sam or Josh if home or Clare if not.
Two empty armchairs, a settee in the rear lounge along with her bed, a second dogs bed in the dining room are all available but no the edge of an occupied settee will do.
